Overview

Job Summary: Weld either new or used (repair/modify) panel frames, panel stands, gates and related products. Move materials within the Yard by forklift. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

1) Manufacture gate frames and panel stands.

2) Monitor equipment and tool inventory. All welded work counts daily with yard foreman.

3) Move materials within the yard by forklift if properly trained and authorize.

4) Weld new/used and repair/modify panels, panel stands, gates, posts, and chain link.

5) Maintain clean and safe work area.

6) Follow all safety rules and wear personal protective equipment as required.

7) Perform other duties and/or tasks as instructed or assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED). Welding certificate or 1+ year(s) of welding experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Requires little or no contact with people other than immediate co-workers and yard foreman. Requires working independently. Assignments are primarily task oriented and include detailed instructions. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedural manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one and two-step instructions.

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations: Welding certificate from Technical School. Forklift certification

Position requires long periods of standing, using hands, reaching with hands and arms; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. Duties require frequent lifting 10 to 100 pounds. The work environment includes exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and inclement weather. Work involves exposure to loud machines and mechanical noise.
