WELDER – YARD, Calgary

PTW is hiring a WELDER for the Calgary Yard. In this role, you are responsible for repairing structural components using SMAW welding techniques and maintaining cleanliness of the work area. The position is also responsible for ensuring all vehicle drivers who have access to the yard follow mandated safety protocols.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Read and interpret work orders

Follow directions given on work orders and by co-workers

Transport steel frame materials and finished steel products manually, using hoists or other devices

Sort steel parts, and other materials

Load and unload steel parts and move parts using hand truck or dolly

Ensures housekeeping is completed on an hourly basis in assigned area(s)

Reports any observed damages to materials and/or equipment to the yard supervisor

Grind and deburr sharp edges from steel parts using hand and power tools

Uses SMAW welding techniques to safely repair fabricated structural components

Operate forklifts

Perform other duties as required

?EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 2 years of welding experience preferred

Ability to operate a Forklift, training may be provided

Knowledge of general safety practices

Experience as a General Labourer working on a construction site.

Ability to follow instructions from supervisor(s) to perform manual labour tasks (e.g. stacking up goods).

Operates the forklifts and loaders where needed, if properly certified.

Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication.

Ability to interface and communicate well with others. Understand and follow oral and written directions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must have CSA approved safety boots.

Standard First Aid & WHMIS is an asset

Crane & Rigging experience is an asset

Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation
