Canadian Mat Systems Inc. has been providing industrial matting solutions to the Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Forestry, and Mining sectors since 2002. Our supply and install division offer a wide range of matting solutions including wood access mats, rig mats and composite mats as well as equipment to meet the individual needs of any project size. Our team is focused on working safely, solving customers needs, and creating efficiencies.

We are seeking Welders (and Apprentices) to join our Mat operations team in Nisku, AB. Applicants must be a Certified Welder or a Registered Apprentice Welder.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the successful candidate will be responsible for safely working in the manufacturing of several types of Mats (wooden and steel). The successful candidate must be reliable, have a strong work ethic, with a positive attitude while working safely within the team or working independently.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be detail oriented and follow the Quality Control guidelines

· Experience with operating a variety of welding tools and equipment

· Knowledge of operating overhead cranes

· Encompass good communication skills for the ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers

· Able to follow all safe work practices/procedures

· Able to work efficiently and effectively as a team member

· Able to work overtime as needed – evenings or weekend

· Perform other duties as assigned / Able to lift and carry 50 lbs

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Welder Journeyman Certificates (or enrolled in Apprenticeship)

· WHMIS

· Able to weld within the parameters of WPDS

· Able to read blueprints to understand how the information presented affects the project

SALARY: Hourly ($22.00 – $40.00) and/or Piecework. Piecework is based on various rates between $25.00 – $100.00 depending on the type of Mat being manufactured. Majority of Mats being manufactured are paid at $100.00 per mat which takes average of 2.5 hours to complete.

HOURS OF WORK: Compressed work week – Monday to Thursday (10 hour days).
