Overview
We are in need of multiple crafts involved in ship building for work in Lockport, LA. All work is undercover so no chance of rain out–work is steady and jobs are long term. Working 55-60 hours per week. Craft testing is required, both written and hands-on. Per diem is offered at $45/day if you are at least 70 miles away from the shipyard.
Testing for each craft consists of the following:
-Shipfitter – consists of framing and welding, increasing in difficulty from 3rd to 1st class.
-Structural Welder (including tack welders) – Tack welders, 3rd class, receive a break test (T-joint vertical & overhead tack weld). Groove welds for 1st class welders. Fillet Weld for 2nd class.
-Pipefitter – CuNi pipe and must use a Metabo cutting grinder to bevel the pipe on end an saddle on the other.
Pipe Welder – 6G weld test on a 45 degree angle. Multiple downhill/uphill welds depending on progression and process used.
Requirements:
-Valid identification proving right-to-work in the US.
-Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
-Experienced with shipyard construction processes and proper use of PPE, power & hand tools, measuring tools and efficient use of materials.
-Hand tools, measuring tools and PPE.
-Reliable transportation to get to the job site, on-time, every day.
