PTW is hiring WELDERS – STRUCTURAL STEEL to join our team in the Calgary area!

This job will be of interest to individuals who Care about their work, strive for safety Excellence, and have a Passion for detail. If you have experience as a Structural Welder (CWB, FCAW, SMAW), are local to the area, and available to start immediately, we want to hear from you!

SHIFT DETAILS

Afternoons
5/2 Shift: Monday – Friday
Shift time: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm
Overtime Available: Paid after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week.

A DAY IN THE LIFE…

  • Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications and welding symbols.
  • Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
  • Removes welds using the Air Arc Gouging process.
  • Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
  • Accurately completes time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets etc.
  • Operates manual flame-cutting equipment.
  • Adjusts welding equipment and tooling according to work specifications.
  • Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or when required.
  • Ensures assigned work is understood prior to commencing.
  • Reports all non-conforming material to the department Supervisor immediately.
  • Mentors and trains apprentices.
  • Complies with standards and procedures of PTW’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • One year of work experience in the trade. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.
  • Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
  • Specialization in structural construction welding considered an asset.
  • Ensures all required CWB qualifications are current.
  • Possesses solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
  • Possesses knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.

TICKETS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
  • Must have CSA approved safety boots.
  • Must supply hand tools.
  • Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
