VeriForm is recruiting for a Welding and Fabricating Supervisor role to join our well respected and established metal fabrication team in Cambridge, ON. VeriForm (www.veriform.ca) is in several unique sectors including:

VeriForm is viewed as a leader in metal fabrication of complex parts and assemblies. This includes comprehensive design, build and assembly while working very closely with clients.

Welding and Fabricating Production Supervisor

Reporting to the Operational Leader, the incumbent is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of employees in the Welding, Painting & Grinding areas to ensure that all quality standards and specifications are met.
VeriForm is also looking for help to expand our welding abilities to include Aluminum CWB 47.2 certification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coach, train and lead all personnel to foster a safe, organized, productive, team-oriented work environment
  • Assign work orders to welding personnel based on scheduled priorities, maintain the integrity of the process, and assure adherence to established SOP’s (standard operating procedures)
  • Work as part of a team with sales, purchasing, scheduling & shipping personnel to meet delivery schedules
  • Create and update welding procedures
  • Prepare daily production reports for the Operations Management Team
  • Provide welding reports to customers as required
  • Identify bottlenecks and analyze data to improve efficiency & workflow improvements in the welding area
  • Monitor all outsourced welding work
  • Monitor weld quality, inspect welds and dimensions of first pieces
  • Respond to quality concerns and implement corrective actions to eliminate repeat occurrences
  • Conduct weld audits on a predetermined schedule
  • Schedule CWB certification and weld tests
  • Maintain CWB welder records, test results, weld procedure sheets and all welding related documents
  • Perform time studies and costing analysis
  • Monitor that all welders are performing duties safely
  • Oversee the maintenance of all equipment in welding area while working with vendors
  • Advise on key capital expenditures
  • Onboarding of all new hires
  • Conduct performance reviews of all assigned personnel
  • Administer discipline based on company policies
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • CWB Welding Inspector Certification
  • 5-8 years hands-on welding and fabricating experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineered schematics and detailed weld drawings
  • Knowledge of ISO standards
  • WHMIS, Crane, First-Aid and Lift-Truck Drivers training
  • Flexible, hands-on management professional who can successfully direct, motivate and train staff
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and organization skills
  • Ability to make critical decisions to accomplish production goals
