Your Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Use a variety of software tools/programs and robotics related to position.

Set weld standards/parameters for new products and follow up with weld testing to meet or exceed customer specifications.

Auditing & logging of weld parameters to ensure consistency with original parameters set.

Develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication.

Interpret engineering drawings, component prints, assembly and part/product drawings.

Perform calculations related to welding applications tooling and equipment.

Assist with the design of welding tools and related equipment to perform welding to customer specifications.

Make tooling adjustments during new model launch or production phases to customer dimensional specifications.

Work with tooling contractors and specialty services to develop prototypes

Identify and recommend a sequence of operations to be performed

Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials

Develop test schedules, work orders, manuals and performance specifications to determine manufacturing procedure to be used

Test functional performance of tooling and parts

Develop process specifications and verify jigs to determine manufacturing procedure and equipment

Be able to work independently or as a team

All other relevant duties

Key Requirements:
Grade 12, GED, or equivalent

College diploma in specialized field / Welding Technician or Technologist, combination of education and applicable work related experience

Five years’ work related automotive industry experience in developing and performing mig, spot, nut and other associated welding applications
