PROJECT DETAILS
Location: Burns Lake, BC
Duration: Until construction is completed, which is anticipated to be March 2023
Shift: Monday to Saturday (Sundays off), 12 hours per day
Hours of Work: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Camp accommodations will be provided
DESCRIPTION
Michels Canada is looking for a Welding Inspector to join our world-class project team on the Coastal GasLink Project! In this position you will conduct jobsite and facility visitations, inspections and, assessments to ensure adherence to quality expectations in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. The ability to work independently and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment is critical. This position will be based in Burns Lake, BC, and will be instrumental in the safe execution of one of Canada’s largest energy infrastructure projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Reviews construction plans and specifications for compliance with project requirements
Ensures construction activities are carried out in accordance with project requirements and an approved ITP
Vigilant about safety and reports potential hazards or safety issues
Establish strong communication with welding crew and supports them for any technical issues or questions
Performs weld visual inspections
Takes welding parameters and prepare reports
Performs pipe material, grade, and bevel checks
Performs welding consumables checks
Completes weld mapping as required
Liaises with construction, NDE and client personnel
Proactively identifies and investigates any quality control related problems
Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary
REQUIREMENTS
Min 3+ years of pipeline welding inspection experience preferably familiar with Mechanized welding process
CWB Welding Inspector (preferably with endorsement to W178.2, CSA W47.1/W59, ASME B31.3, CSA Z662)
Ability to work inside ditch and confined spaces
A demonstrated understanding of Quality Inspection procedures, tools and equipment
Explicit knowledge of products and materials
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to set and manage priorities to meet all deadlines
Ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Trade qualifications are an asset
API qualifications are an asset
Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and quality
Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
Intermediate skill level in MS Office Package
Must possess exceptional communication skills
Present a professional attitude when liaising with all project stakeholders.
LANGUAGES
Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English
