Job Summary

The Rail Weld Lead will lead all employees of the pontoon Rail Welding Department. The Rail Weld Lead will cut, bend, weld, and surface finish aluminum pontoon rail weldments, towbars, stair railings and other aluminum tube parts in support of in-house production and external customer service orders. Position is a working lead position which includes building and welding rail assemblies in addition to leading the Rail Weld Dept.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will lead all Rail Weld Department employees and assist in scheduling, inventorying parts, part consumption reporting and addressing quality issues.

Accurately complete production paperwork and labor reporting

Lead will ensure all required maintenance and daily checks are performed on all dept. equipment.

Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly dept. and ensure all employees are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Essential Job Functions

Plans execution of production work orders, gathers required tools and materials and follows instructions provided for the job.

Monitors the tube and extrusion cutting, bending, welding and surface finishing processes to ensure parts are built to specification.

Fabricates and welds items using cutting tools, saws, grinders, hand tools, welders, tube benders, and other dept. equipment.

Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the dept.

Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment

Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment

Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

Proficient in TIG and MIG aluminum welding

Experience with power and hand tools

Strong leadership skills

Attention to detail

Must be able to motivate and encourage team members.

Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in the Rail Weld area

Be able to work independently

Basic understanding of mathematics to be able to understand dimensions on a drawing

Rail fabrication and welding experience is required.

Education and Experience

??? 6 months boat building experience with 3 months rail welding experience preferred

Physical Requirements

??? Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.

??? Must be able to see details at close range.

??? Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

??? Must be able to read and decipher blueprints.

??? Must be able to work at a fast pace.

??? Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
