PakFab Engineered Solutions is a North American company with a world class team of packaging experts. We design, program-manage, fabricate, source, retro-fit, repair/service, and breakdown/recycle all types of packaging – metal, plastic, foam, bags, bulk/standard bins and a variety of custom dunnage. We provide solutions to a variety of industries: automotive, industrial, alternate energy, electronic and aerospace.

Position Summary

The Welding Lead Hand position is responsible for ensuring all welding employees are working safely, efficiently, and producing quality product. This position ensures all processes are being followed, daily production goals and quality standards are being met.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all welding employees are working safely (PPE), efficiently, and producing quality product
  • Set targets, tracks actual vs. planned and determines why production targets are not being met
  • Ensure all processes are followed and work closely with QC/QA to ensure that all weld check sheets are being completed and correcting any issues that may arise
  • The Leader of the line, filling in where needed (typically fitting) depending on the skill set of employees on the line and current employee development plans
  • Holds the welding team accountable for the daily quality and productivity levels to ensure we meet customer requirements
  • Address quality concerns to ensure inconsistent/non-conforming product are not produced.
  • Training of new hires and completes weld tests for potential candidates
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG or plasma arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as metal straightening and bending machines
  • Monitor production levels and parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and PakFab policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience as a lead hand/supervisor in a welding environment
  • Must possess a valid forklift license/certification
  • Preferably possess a valid driver’s license
  • Highly knowledgeable of weld processes and deficiencies
  • Must be able to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, and work orders
  • Strong knowledge and skill in operating metalworking machinery
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible with a sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Able to effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques

Salary:

Starting hourly rate $28.00 per hour
