POSITION SUMMARY:
Welding-Manufacturing Engineer in Training (EIT) is a full-time position to support Proforma’s Welding Engineering Department in developing procedures, certifications and work instructions. Some travel and overtime may be required from time to time. This position is considered entry-level and will be reporting to intermediate and senior designers and engineers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assisting senior engineers with developing welding engineering procedures (WPS, PQR and WQT) according to CSA, ASME, API and AWS codes.
  • Preparing Quality Control Program Manuals for industrial clients in accordance with various codes and regulation requirements.
  • Developing 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.
  • Working closely with senior engineers to review cranes inspection for certification or repair procedure development per applicable codes such as: CSA Z150, Z150.3, C225, Z248, B 335, B354 as well as NFPA, and AWS.
  • Performing clients site visits, when required.
  • Creating documentation of processes and work instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Working knowledge of ASME & CSA Codes (Pressure Vessels, Process Piping & Structural).
  • Good understanding of design, manufacturing and quality control principles.
  • Working knowledge or good understanding of welding procedure development, welding inspection and non-destructive examination would be an asset.

  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Integrates critical and creative thinking and problem solving into their work
  • Software proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Valid Driving Licence.
  • Travel is required (10-25%).
