Overview

Chemetics is hiring a plasma welding operator to work in ASME Code pressure vessel fabrication. Chemetics Pickering is a union shop, the position will be with the “welders” group. Individual will be specializing in using automatic plasma welding systems. Other work will include standard heavy fabrication welder responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Welds pressure vessels and other large assemblies using automated plasma system within welding procedures.
  • Welds by GTAW, FCAW, SMAW as needed (repairs, other priority work)
  • Backgrinding, gouging, sanding, and other hand tool use as appropriate.
  • Reads welding blueprints and sketches in order to execute jobs and tasks to specification
  • Monitors automatic welding equipment and reports issues to maintenance
  • Monitors work environment for hazards
  • Follows safety protocol, including wearing all personal protective equipment, hearing protection, gloves, protective masks, safety shoes etc.

Qualifications

  • ASME, AWS or CWB welding tickets an asset not mandatory.
  • Experience using automated welding systems preferred.
  • Used to working with large parts (2′ – 20′).
  • Overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Familiarity with drawings and welding symbols.
  • Experience in heavy fabrication environment.
  • Safety oriented.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $21.13-$38.00 per hour

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
