O’Brien Fabrications Ltd. is a diversified metal fabrication shop that has been in operation since 1989. The company services Wellington County and Southwestern Ontario with work primarily completed in Guelph, Kitchener and Cambridge, and surrounding area. The company operates three divisions: Sheet Metal Roofing and Siding, Commercial HVAC, and Welding, completing a wide variety of projects.

Position Overview

O’Brien Fabrications Ltd. is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic employee to join our Welding Division on a full-time basis. As the Production Manager, individuals are responsible for planning, controlling, organizing, and coordinating welding projects. As such, candidates should be knowledgeable in the installation and fabrication of all types of welding.

  • Supervision welding employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects in the shop and onsite
  • Lead, manage, supervise, and train welding employees
  • Collaboratively work with members of the construction/project team during pre-construction, planning and execution phases
  • Own quality of all projects built, assembled, and constructed within shop for effective and successful installation
  • Proactively manage shop/site schedule and plan materials and resources as required
  • Manage all aspects of the fabrication shop
  • Ensuring that proper health and safety protocols are followed in the shop and on site
  • Site visits for job set ups, confirming site conditions & dimensions, quality control and final inspection.
  • Communicate effectively with management and field staff through weekly meetings, project documentation, etc.
  • Maintain employee certification and training charts to fill training gaps and compliance
  • Deliver superior customer experience and assisting in sales as required
  • Other directives as requested by management

Qualifications

  • Dedicated, self-starter, organized, effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience
  • Broad knowledge of all welding industry aspects (custom fab, misc. metals and construction metals/structural steel) exposure to construction, commercial sheet metal & millwrighting would be an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue-print drawings will be expected
  • AutoCAD Knowledge
  • Forklift certification
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • CWB qualified welding supervisor would be an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to $75,000.00 per year
