Welding QA/QC Inspector

McSween Custom Fabricating, Erecting, Welding Ltd. Is a Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, based multi- discipline industrial fabrication and construction company that has been serving the industrial plant community since
1980. Our expertise covers a broad range of industries, which include Petrochemical, Fertilizer, Cement, Mining, Oil
& Gas, Pharmaceutical, Heavy Industrial, Light Industrial, and Power Generation.

McSween is currently seeking an exceptional individual to join our team on a term contract basis as Welding QA/QC
Inspector.

Purpose:

Reporting to the on-site QA/QC Supervisor, the Welding Inspector will be responsible for quality programs and welding inspection duties by adhering to standard quality operational policies and procedures.

What you will do:

  • Inspect, witness, monitor and evaluate welding activities according to specified inspection procedures, quality plan, ITP, quality standards, code compliance and drawings
  • Promote quality awareness
  • Assist in the review of company Quality Plan (ITP), Quality Procedures and all pertained QA/QC documentation prior to commencement of any fabrication work
  • Conduct quality inspections at site location in accordance with the project’s quality culture
  • Daily reporting of all welding activities
  • Ensure contract welders are aware of relevant, up to date codes, standards, and drawings
  • Interface with the Quality Manager, construction engineer and other inspectors in a professional manner
  • Witness in-process inspections per ITP and inspection requests to ensure work proceed in accordance with specifications of the approved drawings and procedures
  • Identify causes of inefficiencies, implement solutions once approved by management
  • Oversee the inspection of mechanical equipment, piping, structure, and welding activities conducted at site
  • perform, observe, and conform to such reasonable duties and instructions as may be assigned
  • Actively participate in the company’s safety programs

What you will bring:

  • CSA W178.2 Level 1 or 2 with extensive field experience
  • Trade background as pipefitter/ welder would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of weldability of ASME P-No 1 base materials
  • Knowledge of the weldability of P-No. 3,4 and 5A alloy steels and P-No. 8 stainless steels would be an asset
  • CSA and ASME Code experience is required
  • Solid understanding of “Scope of Work” processes, ITP, code and specification compliance
